Cleckheaton 48 Morpeth 8 North One East

MORPETH’S first team captain is hoping for a better season next time round after injuries hampered their 2010/11 campaign.

Despite a David Dickinson try and Robert Mutch penalty, the visitors were well-beaten by Cleckheaton in their final game.

Tom Wilkinson said that a total of 55 players have been used throughout the season and for one match, 17 players were unavailable.

“This has been a horrendous season for injuries,” he added.

“When we had people fit and available we were good enough to compete with anyone in the league, but when we didn’t we struggled.

“We’ve had to blood a lot of our younger players and although they are all talented enough to play for the first team, it’s a shame that so many of them had to play together at once.

“If we have fewer injuries in 2011/12, I believe that we can finish in the top half.”
