All set for bidding war at KEVI charity auction

ITEMS donated by sporting stars and celebrities will be up for grabs at a charity auction in Morpeth later this month.

The evening at King Edward VI School, which also includes a three-course curry meal and quiz, has been organised by staff and students to raise money for The Alan Shearer Foundation.

Among the auction lots are hand-signed autographed pictures from Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, World Championship boxer Amir Khan and Olympic gold medal-winner Mo Farah.

There are also signed photographs from a range of Premier League football clubs, such as Sunderland, Everton and Southampton.

Donations from the world of entertainment include a hand-signed Titanic poster by Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet, a hand-signed photo by Annie Lennox, a hand-signed book by Whoopi Goldberg and a hand-signed album from Dame Shirley Bassey.

There are Downton Abbey items signed by writer Julian Fellowes and hand-signed pictures with autographs and clothing worn by characters in soaps, including Coronation Street and Eastenders, as well as a hand-signed book by celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager.

There are regional items to bid for too, such as family passes to attractions and special tours at Chillingham Castle, Beamish Museum and Lindisfarne Castle.

Lots may only be purchased in cash or by cheque on the night.

The Alan Shearer Foundation supports disabled people and their families by providing a number of free and subsidised breaks at the Alan Shearer Short Break Centre in west Newcastle and free facilities at the adjoining Alan Shearer Activity Centre.

The auction takes place on Thursday, February 28, starting at 6.30pm.

Tickets are expected to sell out quickly.

They cost £10 for adults and £5 per child.

They are available now from the school reception on 01670 515415.
