A CREATIVE young train enthusiast hopes his handiwork will put him on track to victory in a modelling competition.
Ten-year-old Ben Orrell put his artistic skills to the test for The National Railway Museum contest, which challenges participants to create a model of the world famous Flying Scotsman from any material of their choice.
The Morpeth schoolboy cleverly crafted his train using just paper, paints and imagination, turning a few sheets of white paper into a 3D representation of his favourite locomotive.
His design is now on show at the York museum among more than 30 other entries for visitors to vote for their favourite.
And he is also hoping to attract support in an online vote.
The winner of the competition will sample a ride in the carriages pulled by the newly restored Flying Scotsman, as well as receive a Hornby train set and a variety of other goodies associated with the locomotive.
Voting closes on Sunday, June 12. To view the entries or cast a vote visit www.nrm.org.uk/scotsmancomp
