Attractions are honoured

Historic attractions in Northumberland have been honoured following positive reviews from visitors.

English Heritage has received nine TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence awards, including one for Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens.

The awards recognise establishments that consistently receive outstanding traveller reviews on the TripAdvisor website, taking account of ratings, volume and how recent comments are.

In addition to Belsay, Warkworth Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, Tynemouth Priory, Aydon Castle, Housesteads Roman Fort, Corbridge Roman Town, Chesters Roman Fort and Lanercost Priory have been honoured.

English Heritage North Territory Marketing Manager Julie Spowart said: “We are delighted that our sites in the North East have received such a great endorsement from the public. It’s a real vote of confidence.

“We are very fortunate to have nurtured incredibly passionate, dedicated and knowledgeable staff at our English Heritage sites, really focusing on bringing history to life for our visitors, and the TripAdvisor accolade puts a stamp of approval on the experience that we are offering.”
