Chance to support Fairtrade movement

The organisers of this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight events in Ponteland will highlight the efforts of the farmers and producers in developing countries who grow food and drink products.

Those coming along to various venues will find out more about how the movement assists these people, for example it helps them to link together with others to form co-operatives so they have greater bargaining power.

A Big Brew will take place in St Mary’s Church Hall, Thornhill Road, from 10am to noon on Saturday, and Merton Hall will hold a coffee morning on Friday, February 27, between 9am and 11am.

The Ponteland Methodist Church Fairtrade Open Door will be at 2pm on Monday, March 2, and there will also be a Big Brew at St Matthew’s Church Hall, West Road, on Saturday, March 7, from 10am to noon.
