Cracking crime at arcade

A NORTHUMBERLAND crime writer will be calling at a Morpeth book store to sign copies of her latest work.

Author Mari Hannah has now published the third in her popular Kate Daniels detective series, Deadly Deceit.

And she will be visiting Morpeth Waterstones in Sanderson Arcade this weekend to sign copies of the book and chat to readers.

Waterstones worker Jo Graham has read all three of the books in the series and is a huge fan.

She said: “If you love reading procedural crime novels with a great cast of characters and a real sense of location, then why not try Mari Hannah?

“Mari is a local author who lives in Northumberland and was a Probation Officer. Her excellent crime series featuring DI Kate Daniels, DS Hank Gormley and their team is set around the North East of England.

“The three novels have a great sense of place and make you feel like you’re right there with Kate and her team.

“The Murder Wall introduces us to Kate Daniels, who is haunted by a past case causing her to doubt her abilities as a detective, however, she finds herself heading a team investigating a brutal murder of a man on Newcastle’s Quayside. In the second book, Settled Blood, a body of a young woman is found on Hadrian’s Wall. While the team are investigating, another girl is reported missing. In her new book Deadly Deceit, Kate and DS Hank Gormley are involved in one of the worst road traffic accidents in Northumberland’s history. However, as the death toll mounts, they realise that things are not as they appear.”

The book signing will take place at Waterstones on Saturday, from 2pm to 4pm.
