FAMILIES can delve into the history of Northumberland as the county archives are opened up this summer.
Woodhorn Museum and Northumberland Archives in Ashington is holding various events based on the archives every Tuesday this month.
Staff will be opening up the doors, drawers and cabinets to show visitors the facts behind the legends of old Northumberland, including tales of highwaymen, smugglers and spirits.
People can trace the stories through maps and documents and there is also the chance to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the archives and use the computers to trace their own family history.
In addition, there are craft activities, storytelling and games.
