Dorothy wins town trails books

A LUCKY Herald reader can enjoy learning more about Morpeth’s history after winning a Christmas competition.

Dorothy Cowans, of Fieldhouse Lane, Hepscott, has won copies of editions nine and 10 of the re-edited Town Trail for Morpethians.

Ms Cowans correctly stated that the original author of the trails, Alec Tweddle, was born in 1920.

The booklets, which provide a street-by-street walking guide to Morpeth’s history, buildings and characters have been re-published by friends Alan Davison and Brian Harle. The final instalment is now on sale at Morpeth Chantry, Appleby’s and Mackays, priced £5.95.
