Fun day will be mindful of museum’s art offering

A fun-packed day of family art activities has been organised by young people in Northumberland.

The Mindfuls, which is made up of nine members aged between 17 and 22 from across the county, is Woodhorn Museum’s first young people’s art group.

Members have been taking part in a programme over the last six months as part of Tate and National Galleries of Scotland’s Artist Rooms initiative, including workshops with professional artists and a trip to London.

Now they are hosting a range of activities at Woodhorn, near Ashington, to encourage young visitors to explore art at the museum.

The Art Gala will include drop-in print making workshops, a make-your-own=poetry installation and a showcase of The Mindfuls’ short-animated film Released In The Morning Light. There will also be a ‘Thought Kit’ to help young people to discover the museum’s art.

The event takes place on Monday, from 11am to 3pm.
