FABULOUS fashions from the ages are making a stylish summer at Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens.
The Fashion From the Past event has been running all week at the English Heritage property and will continue until Sunday.
Visitors can see everything from costumes fit for royalty, with Henry VIII and Elizabeth I style outfits making an appearance, to more practical attire from the swinging sixties.
There is even the opportunity for youngsters to have a go at dressing up themselves.
This weekend there will be a fitting finale to the event, with fashion shows and historical presentations, as well as singing trio The Spitfires calling in to entertain the crowds with wartime songs.
Events Manager Jon Hogan said: “This is the first time that Belsay Hall has hosted an event of this kind and here at English Heritage we’re all very excited.
“Spectacular fashions from the ages will be brought to life both inside the Hall and outdoors on the lawn.
“The week will culminate at the weekend where fashion shows and special presentations will shed light on the meaning of the fashions, the making and wearing.
“From Tudor and Georgian to the 20th Century, visitors will be able to experience these different eras in time first hand. With music and dressing up for children to look forward to as well, we’ve packed in something to suit every taste.”
Admission to the estate costs £7.50 adults, £4.50 children and free for English Heritage members.
The event runs from 11am to 4.30pm daily.
