Hit the woods

NATURE-lovers are invited along to Wallington on Sunday to find out more about how its Countryside Team manages more than 800 acres of woodland.

The event in the West Woods will include practical demonstrations of wood working and woodland crafts, such as charcoal burning and horse logging.

Visitors can also help the team make some willow hurdles for the wildlife hide.

The activities will take place between 11am and 3pm. Normal admission charges apply.

• Children can also enjoy the great outdoors at Wallington on Thursday, August 25. Among the activities will be the chance to have a go at building for bugs and birds.

They can drop in between 11am and 12.30pm or from 1.30pm to 3pm. Normal admission charges apply.
