Two exciting and unusual creative writing opportunities are available in Morpeth and Cramlington in a joint project between Active Northumberland Library Service and Hexham Book Festival.
Gillian Allnutt will be leading two sessions at the Northern Poetry Library at Morpeth Chantry.
These two poetry workshops have an unusual approach to writing about people. Participants are to bring in an ordinary common or garden stone for the first session and a small container or contraption made of wood for the second.
These are standalone workshops and participants can come to either session or both.
The sessions run this Saturday, March 11, and Saturday, March 25, from 10am to noon, and are £6 per workshop.
Carina Rodney’s workshops will be about Writing for the Stage. Participants will build three-dimensional characters, explore subtext, and learn techniques for creating effective dialogue and dramatic scenes. Workshops will be held in the community room on the first floor of Cramlington Library within Concordia Leisure Centre. This is a two-week course, running on Monday, March 20 and 27, from 7pm to 9pm, costing £10 for the course.
