Families can get the summer holidays off to a fun start by attending a popular event at a Morpeth beauty spot.
This year’s Picnic in the Park will have a World War I theme celebrating the local heroes who supported the troops at the battlefront during the conflict.
Each year, a family art project forms part of the free event – organised by the Greater Morpeth Development Trust – and on Sunday, picnickers will be invited to create poppy mosaics using plastic tiles that will be on display in Morpeth Town Hall’s Butter Market in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday.
The entertainment between noon and 4pm in Carlisle Park will be provided by a magician and juggler, Jo Jingles storytellers, Ellington Colliery Band and the St George’s Players. There will also be face-painting and mat-making demonstrations from Woodhorn Matters.
