There will be attractions for people of all ages at a fun annual event in a community beauty spot on Sunday.
The entertainment on the stage at this year’s Ponteland Party in the Park will come from the Darras Hall First School Choir, Ponteland Community Choir and Jill Errington School Of Dance.
Physical activities include a climbing wall from the Northumbria Army Cadet Force, archery, a bouncy castle and fitness and training from James Milburn.
There will also be a funfair, Punch and Judy show and a range of games. In addition, one tent each for arts and crafts and refreshments will be available and a number of local organisations will have stalls.
This is the 13th year of the event, which is organised by a Ponteland Churches Together – St Mary’s Church, St Matthew’s RC Church, Ponteland Methodist Church and Ponteland United Reformed Church – committee. The objective is to create a social gathering and support local charities.
Committee member Andy Anderson said everyone involved is delighted that Newcastle International Airport has once again agreed to be the main sponsor for the event.
He added: “We hope that lots of families will come along to the park to enjoy the entertainment and activities and that the weather is decent.
“The buns for the barbecue are being provided by Davidson of Darras Hall and the sausages and burgers are being supplied by food service provider Warren Butterworth. Useful support has also come from the Co-op, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
“As ever, we must thank Ponteland Town Council for the use of the park and Ponteland Scouts for the use of their hut.
The party will be opened at 1.30pm by Rev Hubert Jicha III from the USA. The pastor of North East United Methodist Church in Maryland is on a ministerial exchange with Rev Tim Thorpe of Ponteland Methodist Church.
The event will run until 5pm. There is free entry for children under five and admission is only £1 for children aged five plus and adults.
