A trio of real reindeer were an eye-catching attraction at Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth on Saturday.

Many families had a good look at Pancake, Ella and Ola, the baby calf of the group, in the piazza area and young shoppers were able to feed them. They are owned by Richardson Garden Centre of County Durham.

The festive offerings on Saturday did not end there as more than 25 stalls were in place at a Christmas Market in the Market Place. Items available included tasty sausages, festive wreaths and some home-grown organic products.

The arcade will be the venue for some top live music this weekend.

There will be lively performances by The Vieux Carre Jazzmen on Saturday from 11am to 3pm and Harry Mears will be playing a range of tunes on the saxophone between noon and 4pm on Sunday, when mulled wine and mince pies will be available.

The stores and shops in the centre that will be open on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day have been announced.
