AN artistic Ponteland pupil has brushed the competition aside to make her mark in the community.
Seven-year-old Samantha Gray has taken first place in an art competition to design a logo and signage for Ponteland Children’s Centre.
More than 200 entries were received from Ponteland First School and Year 5 of Richard Coates Middle School and judges had a tough time picking the winner.
However, the centre’s staff thought Samantha’s effort was particularly suitable, showing Ponteland Pele Tower, a rainbow, a group of children and a mother with a pushchair.
Now it is being used for all of the facility’s letters, publications and signage.
And to thank her for her work, Family Support Worker Susan Usher presented Samantha with a framed picture of her design, a £25 MetroCentre gift voucher and a children’s centre hoodie featuring her logo.
