Wildlife fans urged to get snapping

YOUNG animal lovers in Northumberland are urged to get snapping for the chance to win a three-day wildlife experience.

Entries are invited to the RSPCA Young Photographer Awards, with prizes for different age categories, as well as sections for pet personalities and best portfolio.

This year there are two new categories — images that show how animals make people’s lives better and the garden wildlife award.

The overall winner will go on a three-day trip with top wildlife photographer Danny Green, courtesy of Natures Images, while Olympus cameras worth up to £500 are among the goodies up for grabs for category winners and runners-up.

The competition is sponsored by Warners Midlands, Natures Images, Wildlife Whisperer and Olympus.

RSPCA Chief Photographer Joe Murphy said: “The RSPCA Young Photographer Awards are one of the best animal photography competitions in the UK for under 19s to enter and they attract some fantastic talent.

“We want to see stunning pictures of animals of all kinds in all situations, from pets to wildlife and insects to birds.”
