More than 3,000 people from across the North East descended on Kirkley Hall at a record-breaking Family Fun Day, celebrating 25 years of The Children’s Foundation.
After 25 years of campaigning to improve children’s health in the region, last weekend’s event was the charity’s biggest and most successful to date.
The fun day provided the first chance for families to get involved in a new campaign, Because Minding Matters, which launched earlier this month to coincide with the charity’s landmark year.
The event was free to attend, thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Awards for All, but everyone dug deep and raised close to £1,500 for the foundation.
Peregrine Solly, chief executive at The Children’s Foundation said: “We are thrilled to have celebrated our 25th anniversary with so many families from across the region,
“The success of our Family Fun Day has got our new campaign off to a fantastic start and we look forward to raising even more money this year.”
Families also enjoyed activities such as a zip wire.
