Monte Carlo, Morpeth, or bust?

A TASTE of Monte Carlo is coming to Morpeth when the town’s Lions Club holds its first Charity Casino Night.

Would-be players will be given ‘funny money’ to gamble the night away.

And entertainment includes a free raffle and cabaret, featuring local singers Along Came Lola.

There will also be an opportunity to see a one million United States of America dollar note, all included in the admission price.

The evening will finish with a Blind Auction.

The casino event, which includes a supper, has been organised by the Lions to raise money for local Alzheimer’s, polio and stroke charities.

Morpeth Lions President Simon Pringle said: “It is some years since we held this type of event and the club is indebted to Riverside Lodge for agreeing to host it and to Sunderland Lions Club, which is providing its expertise and equipment.

“We aim to provide a fun evening that will hopefully leave our guests asking for it to become an annual event. Most importantly, it is hoped that my designated charities will greatly benefit.”

The casino night will take place at Riverside Lodge, High Stanners, on Saturday, February 23.

Tickets cost £15 and are available now by contacting Mr Pringle on 01670 513169, or John Gray on 01670 518155.
