A chorus of approval for opera production

Lovers of Gilbert and Sullivan were in their element last week when the Mid Northumberland Chorus performed at Morpeth Chantry Middle School.

The story of the duo, written by Paul Toward, traced the rise to fame of the pair, narrated by John Barker and including items from each opera.

The MNC were privileged to have soprano Jane Corbitt and tenor Richard Pinkstone as leads, while Tony Batty, David Richardson, Joan Howard, Jackie Jordan, Anne-Marie Cairns, Pauline Garton and Steve Locks all contributed in solo roles. The chorus excelled with lovely harmonies, and accompanists Emma Straughan and Ken Irvine gave five star performances.
