Classical treat for music fans

CLASSICAL music fans are in for a treat as a village plays host to The Bewick Orchestra.

Founded 15 years ago by its conductor Michael Doswell, the orchestra attracts huge interest from near and far.

Its programme for Longhirst Music Society this weekend will feature well-known pieces by the masters.

There will be the Rosamund Overture D644 by Schubert, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A, performed by soloist Jonathan Caudle, and Beethoven’s 1st Symphony in C opus 21.

The concert will take place at Longhirst Village Hall on Saturday, starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £9.50 for adults and £5 for children, including supper and drinks.
