Continental musical treat

A MUSICAL treat from the continent is on offer in Morpeth this week.

Italian Guitar duo DOS, Luca Allievi and Allessandro Brizio, are coming to the town to play two free gigs as part of their UK tour.

Their sound is a mixture of gypsy, hot club, swing and jazz standards, as well as their own arrangements of contemporary covers.

The long-established act has featured in a number of concert halls and festivals so the guitarists are looking forward to performing in more intimate settings.

The duo will be joined by Northumberland musicians Angie and Robert Turnbull, who have organised the tour after meeting Luca and Allessandro while performing in Saint Malo, France, two years ago.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for people to see international artists in their own local venues,” said Mrs Turnbull.

“We are hoping to bring more world musicians to Northumberland so locals can experience different cultures through music.”

DOS will play today at Marabinis Restaurant, Newmarket, from 8pm and at La Bodega Tapas Bar, Newgate Street, on Easter Sunday from 2pm.
