Drumming up support for African project

A LIVELY night of music is being held in Morpeth in aid of a good cause.

The gig will feature a performance from North East drumming group Bombadinga, who capture African sounds and rhythms.

The other musicians taking to the stage include Kathy Bainbridge, singing folk songs, and ukulele player Cath Boden. Further entertainment will be provided by Chris Armstrong from Hexham Mart.

All funds raised will go to the Jitegemee School Building Project in Tanzania, which is currently constructing a two-storey school with more than a dozen classrooms in a village near the capital Dar es Salaam.

A range of donated items will be available at an auction, and a raffle will have plenty of prizes.

Bar facilities and light refreshments will also be available.

The event is being held tomorrow at Morpeth Conservative Club, Newgate Street, between 7pm and 10pm. Entry is £3 at the door.
