The annual Rotary Club of Ponteland gala concert, part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, will take place at the Britannia Hotel, Newcastle Airport, on Sunday.
As usual, the event will be compered by Graeme Danby (bass) who is well known to many audiences in the North East not only for his extensive and varied repertoire, but also for his ability as a compare to lighten even some of the heavier parts of grand opera.
He is ably assisted on the platform by his wife Valerie Reid (mezzo) and the other guests include Lisa Swayne (soprano) and Austin Gunn (tenor).
The instrumentalist this year is Anthony Moffat (violin), who is currently leader of the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, and 12-piece girl acappella group Dodici Voce – they are from Sunderland University and trained by Professor Graeme Danby – will also take to the stage.
The concert starts at 7.15pm. Tickets cost £15 each and some will be available at the door.
