Shoppers will be able to enjoy free open-air concerts on Saturday afternoons for the next 12 weeks in Morpeth town centre.
The popular Music in the Market Place events begin this Saturday lunchtime (June 20) and first ‘on stage’ will be Alex Scott, followed a week later by Harry Mears.
Throughout July, entertainers booked for the concerts are Jason King, Tom Wylie, Steve Halliday and Chris Dakers.
In August, Lou Coel and Rachel Sage will join Harry, Jason and Tom on respective Saturdays, while entertaining at the last concert on September 5 will be singer Vicky Sanderson.
Each concert starts at 1pm and will run until about 4pm.
All are being organised by Morpeth Town Team as a way of providing another on-going attraction to draw shoppers into the town centre over the summer period.
Town Team chairman David Lodge said: “A town centre like Morpeth is not just about shopping, but being a place where people can relax, have a drink, a bite to eat and soak up the atmosphere, and music is one way of adding to what it has to offer.”
“We have been staging the open-air concerts throughout the summer months for two years now and they have proved extremely popular with shoppers and visitors to the town.
“All the entertainers taking part are local people, so it is also a great chance for them to showcase how much talent there is in this area.”
Details about who will be performing on particular Saturdays throughout July and August will be advertised locally and included the Herald.
