SHOPPERS will be serenaded in Morpeth Market Place in open-air concerts.
The mini series of entertainment has been organised by the town’s new Economic Forum in a bid to attract more shoppers and visitors.
King Edward VI School band Mad and the Hatters will play a wide ranging set, from jazz to rock and roll on Saturday, from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.
And on Saturday, September 1, talented trio Along Came Lola will perform.
The concerts aim to complement other events in the town staged by forum partners the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade, Morpeth Town Council and the Greater Morpeth Development Trust.
Trust Chief Executive David Lodge said: “The forum is keen to demonstrate that there’s more than just shopping for people to enjoy when they come into the town centre.
“Over the year we are fortunate to have the Gathering, Town Fair, Picnic In The Park, Heritage Open Days, our annual Walking Festival, the wonderful Britain In Bloom displays, the Market Place concerts, and of course the Christmas Lights, all adding to the town’s terrific retail experience for townspeople and visitors alike.”
