Naval talk

NEW information about Morpeth’s Naval hero may come to light in a talk about one of his colleagues.

Dr Tony Barrow will present a talk on Collingwood’s Stick – the Life and Times of Captain Edward Rotheram CB RN to members of The Collingwood Society.

Captain Rotherham served alongside Admiral Collingwood, who lived in Oldgate, at the Battle of Trafalgar, but was described by him as ‘a man of no talent as a sea officer’.

The talk will take place on Tuesday at 7.30pm, at Trinity House on Newcastle’s Quayside.

It is free for society members, but there is a £2 admission charge for others. For more information call 01665 516716.
