A Ponteland girl is one of three local youngsters to have been selected from more than a thousand hopefuls to play parts in two major theatrical performances set to premiere next month.
The three friends — Brooke Armstrong, 12, from Medburn, Callum Saddler, 13, from Cramlington, and Kate Storey, 14, from Blaydon — all auditioned with hundreds of other young actors at the Youth Music Theatre UK’s national auditions for the chance to perform in a number of productions across the UK.
All three performers are students at Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre Stage School.
Callum and Brooke are heading to Belfast to take part in Paperboy, a new musical featuring the sounds of the Bay City Rollers, while Kate will be appearing in Help! Get Me Out Of This Musical at South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell.
Brooke and Callum will be spending three weeks rehearsing and learning more stage craft.
Brooke said: “I know it’s going to be very hard work as we will be working from 9am to 9pm every day, learning our lines and moves. I’m really looking forward to it though as I’m sure we will meet new people and learn new skills.
“We are very grateful to our agent Peanuts Talent who nominated us all.”
