Drama at the double double

DRAMA fans are in for a treat tomorrow with four plays in one evening.

Northumberland Theatre Company (NTC) will present the half-hour plays at Morpeth Town Hall.

The 4scene event aims to showcase the work of up-and-coming writers, as well as give trainee actors Luke MacGregor and Louise Best the chance to work alongside experienced professionals on a county tour, thanks to funding from the Grants For Art Fund.

Audiences can watch Scribbler Girl by Shiona Morton, The Bag by Jonny Bussell, Angel by Bob Shannon and Instructions Not Included by Christiana Maiden.

NTC artistic director Gillian Hambleton said: “The writers of 4scene come from different experiences and backgrounds in theatre, bringing with them their own creativity and unique vision, and at the same time we are thrilled that two of our actors are being given the chance to make their debuts alongside these inspirational writers and experienced professionals.”

The plays include a look at life in the 1700s through the eyes of a servant, a study of human rights and the absurdity of systems, a black comedy about the state of the nation and a humorous and poignant look at life through a character’s recollections of belongings.

The theatre event takes place tomorrow, at 7.30pm.
