A NEW adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma will be staged at Belsay this weekend.

Open-air production specialists Chapterhouse Theatre Company will present the performance at Belsay Hall’s Walled Garden on Saturday.

The tale of matchmaking, marriage and merriment follows a young woman determined to pair her friends off with their perfect matches, only to find her own true love has been there all along.

Directed by Rebecca Gadsby and adapted by Laura Turner, the comedy of manners promises love and laughter aplenty in an evening of Regency wonderment and heart-warming romance.

Gates open at 6.45pm and visitors are invited to take chairs, picnics and drinks. The performance starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £13 in advance, £11 concessions, or £15 on the night, £13 concessions. To book, call 01661 881636.
