Open-air theatre is back in Northumberland again this summer with Chapterhouse Theatre Company.
Throughout the summer, Chapterhouse will be bringing stunning performances of six classic stories to more than 180 of the UK and Ireland’s most beautiful garden venues, promising to be one of the most enchanting and unmissable events of the season.
And this year it will be performing at Warkworth Castle and Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens in Northumberland.
On Tuesday, July 3 the company will present A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedy, at Warkworth Castle.
Let yourself be whisked away on a thrilling journey to the most magical of forests and meet star-crossed lovers, playful fairies and hilarious travelling players, complete with beautifully designed Elizabethan costumes, a wonderful musical score and enchanting woodland creatures.
On Saturday, July 21, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes will be played out at Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens.
Deep in the Northumbrian countryside a terrifying mystery and a legendary nemesis await the arrival of the world’s greatest detective. When the wife of Doctor Watson suddenly disappears, a desperate quest to find her begins.
And on Monday, August 6, it’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland at Warkworth Castle.
Join Alice as she stumbles into the magical world of Wonderland and meet a whole host of colourful characters, from the unforgettable White Rabbit and the madcap Mad Hatter to the terrifying Queen of Hearts.
The shows take place at different times and guests are invited to take picnics and seats along. See more below.
