WOMEN who were involved in the 1984 miners’ strike are being invited to share their experiences for a community arts project.
One For All Productions is developing an oral history project about north east women who took an active role in the dispute or their local community at the time.
Volunteers’ stories will be recorded in both audio and film format, which will be distributed to libraries and museums.
It will also form the basis of a play, as well as be used for heritage work in schools.
Rachel Kirk, of One For All Productions, said: “The experiences of the miners have been well documented — we are looking to record the stories and anecdotes of their wives, daughters, sisters and other women affected.
“These stories are an integral part of the region’s working class heritage and for this reason we feel it’s very important to have an oral record of this period.”
